HeyHey.
People, you know the Teachers' Day thingy?
Want to have the whole squad taking part?
It will be fun.
Also,here's the newspaper article.
It was our first time going around talking to households about crime prevention. It was whole new experience for all of us. We were all definitely nervous about it for it was our first time. We smiled at each other before heading off. We gave one another our support but still, we were all still nervous but not that much as before.
We split up into different groups. In our groups, we have all reached our first household. Our group ICs demonstrated us on how to spread the message on crime prevention to other households. Though of the demonstration, there were some who were still as nervous for they were not really that confident. But still, they went for it. Some of us tried it at the second go while others tried at the third or fourth go.
There were some households who did not open their doors. Still, there is a possibility that they were not home. So we moved on. Some of us encountered residents who stood there, not listening to them as they thought they know what crime prevention was. It was rather annoying for us but still we ignored that and continue talking and spread the message in hope that they will get some parts of what we were talking about.
There were households with dogs, ferocious ones. Then of course, some were afraid of those dogs but they managed to overcome their fear and moved on to the household and the next. It was rather brave of them to do so.
There was a group who met an ex-NPCC cadet. She was rather supportive of us. Just like her, other residents supported us too. They supported us by listening to us spreading the message on crime prevention. We were rather glad when we managed to spread the message to another household. That really kept everyone moving on.
As we mentioned above, there were households who did not open their doors which may be due to them not in. We slipped in brochures under their doors or we just left it at their doorsteps. We wanted to spread our message as much as possible. We hoped that they will understand more from the brochures although we might be there to tell more but still, they will be able to learn some preventive measures from the brochures.
When we went around spreading the message on crime prevention, it not only widens the residents’ knowledge on crime prevention but also our knowledge too. We also learnt how to speak up and talk to others. Through this whole program, we learnt a lot of new things and we also widen our knowledge too. It was like killing two birds with a stone.
Everyone managed to speak for at least one time. It was rather memorable for all of us for it was our first time. It was rather exciting. Some even managed to speak for two to three times. After this whole experience, we were sure that for the next year, we will be even more confident next year and not as nervous as this year again.
We felt proud to be able to represent our school and spread the message about crime prevention to residents living in that area. We were glad to be part of it and we definitely look forward to next year’s NPCC Service Day.
